Testimonials

Karthik Manivannan

Secretary (2012-13)

FII gave me a gamut of opportunities to put to practice what I learnt during my stay at IIMB and definitely has played a huge role in preparing me for the corporate world. Whether it is dealing with vendors or negotiating with the sponsor or ideating and implementing a flagship event or managing a talented team, FII has taught me the soft skills needed to be a good manager. The club serves as a platform where you can interact with the who’s who of the corporate world and makes you a part of a network that is otherwise unfathomable for a graduate student. Looking back, I think my life at IIMB would have been incomplete without the challenge and joy of working for FII, a forum that has given me lessons, skills and friends for life.

Sadhana Kumar

Senior Coordinator, Events (2011-12)

FII was one of the best things that happened to me at B. To this day some of the closest friends I have are friends from FII. It got me a network of people I otherwise may not have had the opportunity to work with. It opened a world of opportunities to experiment with different ideas I have had. People in FII were a lot of fun to be with. Our parties were amongst the best on campus. Being a part of the core team for Vista was literally a privilege. Though I could not be an official member of the club in my 2nd year (because I had to go on exchange to Paris), I chose to stick around and help the club as an informal member. I did it purely because of the people of FII. It got me an awesome network of seniors, batch mates and juniors. These are bonds that will last forever. It’s amazing to be associated with FII. FII truly rocks!

Bhushan Maskay

Vertical Head, Publicity & Public Relations (2012-13)

My experience with FII has been my most memorable time ever in IIMB. In spite of the seriousness of the work, the fun, the group and immensely rewarding scenarios that face you while in FII are something that you cherish for life. Having spent both my campus years with FII, I can surely say, it brings out the real you gives you friends you can never let go. But there is one caveat- be sure when you work on anything in FII, you put your heart into it else all the good things will turn upside down.

Rishi Bigghe

Head, Events (2015-16)

FII is one of the those things that made my stay at IIM B memorable. Got to work with best of the best minds of campus. Learnt a lot while brainstorming events that could make an impact, handling high profile speakers, discussing on how to make Vista bigger & better and managing the host of other activities that make Vista & FII what it is today. Right from joining FII, I felt I had a great support system of not just my current team members but also of numerous other alumni who worked as part of FII. Even though they mean business, FII is a group of smart & fun guys who also believe in partying hard.

FII Charter

As a recognized student committee under the Students’ Affairs Council (SAC) at IIM Bangalore, the Forum for Industrial Interaction (FII) is committed to promote interaction between the academia, industry and the students to enhance the learning experience at IIMB. Also, FII is the only club with mandate to raise sponsorship and organize Business side events at an inter-college level. This charter states the activities planned for the year to achieve this end.

  • Vista: Vista is the Annual International Business Meet of IIM Bangalore. It is the largest student business summit in India and witnesses participation from across India. The summit comprises of events, distinguished speaker sessions, workshops, corporate conclaves and much more. We invite participants from various domains such as marketing, finance, operations, strategy, public policy, media, entrepreneurship, etc. In its last edition, Vista saw participation from over 300 colleges & 100+ corporates with 7.5 million online hits & a footfall in excess of 13000.
  • Colloquium: FII organizes regular speaker talk series at IIMB where industry leaders are invited to campus for talks on a varied set of topics. Colloquium talks are usually delivered by business leaders as well as by industry stalwarts from offbeat fields like social entrepreneurs and activists for the benefit of the student community. Talks in the past have been delivered by luminaries like Gen. Bikram Singh, P. Sainath, Medha Patkar, Kris Gopalakrishnan, Subroto Bagchi and Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan among others.
  • TEDxIIMB: TEDxIIMBangalore is a confluence of bright minds that are exploring the frontiers of groundbreaking ideas that could reshape India's future. Here, experts and path-makers from diverse backgrounds inspire us to explore, learn and shape tomorrow's landscape. Ideas for tomorrow which are already in action.
  • Nexus: Every year FII invites participants to don the Finance Minister's hat and give us their take on what the Union Budget should focus on to drive India's growth over the next decade. Participants perform an in-depth analysis of a sector of their choice and come up with recommendations, suggest reforms for multiple sectors, or come up with an over-arching vision for what the budget should seek out to achieve! Last year we invited former Finance Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram as honorary speaker for NEXUS.
  • Professional Workshops: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” - Benjamin Franklin. Throughout the year FII organizes exciting workshops to inculcate the feeling of learning by doing. The workshops are organized on niche fields such as data analytics, product development, digital marketing etc. The aim of these workshops is to give a hands-on experience to the students which helps them be corporate ready once they land up in the job.

In case of any suggestions for events, activities or industry-interfaces that FII should take up, feel free to reach out to us at: fii[at]iimb.ernet.in.
